Spirit Information
Pluses:
These are the good spirits in the human world. They are the spirits of good people that died without regrets that would bind them to a person or place. They do not become hollows, and do not harm anyone. These spirits are stuck in the human world until they are sent to soul society by any shinigami via the ''soul burial''.
Minuses:
These are the bad spirits that have led a bad life full of sins. These spirits go to hell. Often these spirits become hollows. Even when they become a hollow and are cleansed by the zanpakutou, these spirits will go to hell in the end.
Demi-Hollow:
This is a spirit, bound to the earth or a person, that is about to become a Hollow. This process is a slow one but it can be speeded up by forcibly increasing the hole in its chest. Often these spirits are called Poltergiest.
Earthbound Spirits:
These are spirits that wander a place of land that had some importance to them in their life. They are what make a place haunted and are usually Demi-Hollows.
Obsesive Spirits:
These are souls that follow a person constantly. Often these people are family members. The souls constantly follow their obsesions, often causing it physical injuries.
Hollows:
These are evil spirits. If you die and are forced to wander the earth where you died because of an obsession, the hole where your heart was will grow until you become a hollow. This also hapens when your chain of fate is cut. Hollows eat other spirits in order to fill the hole in thir chests. Hollows have a mask to make their identities unknown to their loved ones, who are often their first targets.
Menos Grande:
These are large hollows formed by thousands of hollows joining together into one. They are extremely powerful and are very rarely seen. They reside in the heavens and are the only ones that dwell there.
Modified Soul:
Also known as Mod Souls, these are artificial spirits, created to by Soul Society. When inserted into human, it forces out their original spirit and is replaced by the mod soul. They have large amounts of strength and speed that no human can match and were originally created to battle Hollows.
Shinigami:
Death Gods or shinigami for those who only read the manga are indeed a type of spirit. Shinigami are like anti-Hollows. They protect spirits instead of trying to kill them. They are a special type of spirit, almost like a modified spirit of sorts. They can do things regular spirits can't, like Demon arts and such. They exist to protect and keep the world together by balancing the amount of souls.
