Ashita - Naruto Fanfic...

My first Fanfic...So go easy on me guys... unless it is so totally awful, then I'm gonna go cry in a corner somewhere...

AU. After Orochimaru sends Naruto to an Alternative Universe, how will Naruto cope? Will he ever get back to see his own universe?

And for those who don't know... AU is alternative universe... ^.^ I didn't get it a first either....

Ashita

Kabuto opened the door, not hesitating as the smell of dampness filled his nostrils, and lit the torch, maybe Orochimaru didn’t need light, but he sure as hell did.

“Did you bring the last piece?”

When he had first met Orochimaru, that voice had made him shiver in dread, so piercing and direct, but now there were no effects, they had worn off long ago.

“Yes Orochimaru-sama”

Did the Snake-sannin realise how long he had travelled to get the invaluable piece of machinery? As the pale skinned hand snatched the bundle from his hands, Kabuto guessed the Sannin didn’t care.

His mind was too focused on its objective.

Getting rid of Naruto.

Kabuto sighed.

Why couldn’t Naruto-kun just join them? With his skills… Kabuto’s mind wondered

But we have Sasuke-kun now, he reminded himself sternly, Naruto had refused their more than generous offer, and the boy’s constant hunting for the friend that had abandoned him years ago was going too far.

The order had come about three months ago.

Kabuto didn’t expect it.

Sure Naruto was a pest, appearing in the most unlikely of places at the most annoying times, and the ability to win an almost impossible fight was uncanny.

He flinched, unintentionally remembering his fight with Tsunade….

Kabuto had been sure that he would win that fight, against a woman and a genin, it had looked so easy.

He had been about to deliver the final blow when…

“Rasengan!”

“Finished”

Orochimaru was stood next to him now, staring at the small machine on the table.

This was going to bring down that pesky kid?

“But how will it get rid of him?”

Even though Orochimaru had told him the objective of all their plans, he had never told anybody about the machine he had been constructing in his laboratory.

How was this little mechanical box going to defeat him if some of the most experienced ninja’s couldn’t?

He would have to trust Orochimaru.

Meanwhile in Konohagakure

“A large portion of Miso ramen please!”

A groan could be heard through out Ichiraku’s.

The boy smiled, he knew they didn’t mean it.

They had been doing that routine forever, Naruto would order the biggest dish, and they would pretend to be annoyed.

It made him feel at home.

The sun shone down and Naruto couldn’t help but smile, the smell of ramen, the warm summer air…

It was times like this that he could kick back and watch the grass grow.

That B-ranked mission was harder than he had thought it would be…Not that he would admit that to Tusnade-baa-chan.

The bowl was shoved under his nose.

“Enjoy!” Teuchi smiled, he was glad that Naruto had come back from that mission alive, he had heard from Iruka earlier that day that the mission Team 7 had taken hadn’t been an easy one.

The bowl was empty already.

Naruto looked up, a sheepish smile on his face.

Teuchi sighed.

“Another bowl on the house?”

Sakura washed the final bits of dust from her hair, and relaxed.

How long had it been since she had a real shower?

Sure the boys could live days on end without washing, but after three days, she had forced them all to stop and visit a bath house.

The warm water cascaded over her face, and she felt her aching muscles unclench.

-Finally- she thought to herself - a bit of rest and relaxation-

She inspected the fading yellow bruise on her shoulder, and sighed, if Naruto hadn’t shown up, it might not have just been a bruise.

Sakura stepped out of the shower.

Kakashi walked straight to his bookshelf and removed the Icha Icha novel from his pack and placed it back where it belonged. His fingers trailed across the other Icha Icha books and removed one at random.

He smiled.

It was his favourite of the series so far.

Kakashi sunk back onto couch, his single grey eye shutting momentarily, before he realised that this situation required a cup of tea.

Leaving his book on the arm of his chair, he wondered into the kitchen.

He might enjoy difficult missions, but he also liked a bit of relaxation now and again, especially after a mission like that…

“A party?” Naruto was surprised by the offer, he had been sitting in Ichiraku’s on his fifth bowl of ramen, when his old sensei had appeared.

“Only if you want Naruto” Iruka offered, he wouldn’t admit it, but he had been worried about Naruto the whole time.

“Well it is your birthday soon” Iruka offered

“A...Birthday party…for me?” Naruto was completely gob smacked.

A birthday party for him?

“Yeah, and you can invite all your friends, and eat ramen…” Iruka carried on.

“Ramen?!”

So much for his silence.

“I can’t wait Iruka-sensei!” His smile was almost blinding.

“Well…” The chunin started, slightly surprised by the blonde’s reaction to the idea “Are you going on any missions anytime soon?”

The blonde looked thoughtful for one of the first times in his life.

“I don’t think so..”

“Well, I have the new Academy students arriving soon…So it’s gonna have to be sometime soon…”

“Alright! I’m gonna go tell Sakura-chan right now!”

The Academy teacher grabbed the hyperactive child before he charged off.

“Hey! I was in the middle of speaking!”

The boy rubbed the back of his head sheepishly “Haha…sorry there Iruka-sensei…I was so excited and all…”

Iruka sighed, sometimes he though the boy he had taught all those years ago had finally grown up… Yet here Naruto was acting like he always did, but he just couldn’t bring himself to be annoyed with the boy.

“How about…Tomorrow night?”

Naruto smile grew even wider.

“How are you gonna arrange everything on time?”

“I’ll find a way Naruto”

He didn’t say anything, but he had been planning this party for a while now... but he had decided to wait until after Naruto had come back from the mission.

“I gotta go tell Sakura-chan about this!”

And then he was gone.

Why does Kakashi read porno.

T-...

I dunno...

but without Icha Icha he wouldn't be Kakashi..

T~T

And tht would make me cry....

and if he dies...

I will go lock myself in my room and cry sum more... T~T

Well Next chapter...


The next evening

Iruka was pretty proud about how well things had turned out, there were still things to be done, and the guests were arriving… but those things could be done later.
He had invited almost everyone he could think of, Sakura and Ino were the first to arrive, Followed by Chouji, Neji, Yamato, Hinata and Kiba, then Shino, Gai, Lee, TenTen, Konohamaru, Moegi and Udon… Even Sai had turned up, he had half expected the strange boy to not come, but there he was, talking with Ino and Sakura.

Shikamaru then turned up, and when Ino threatened to hit him for being late, he made an excuse that he had been staring at the clouds, when she turned away, he muttered.

“Troublesome woman”

Ino turned around, eyes blazing like fire.

“What did you say?!”

Naruto arrived, even more hyperactive than usual.

Party poppers were let off, and the feast began.
Iruka couldn’t help but smile as the kids in front of him tucked into the food, he remembered just hours ago as Team 8 had come back from a recon mission, or the other day when Team 10 had come back from Sunagakure…
They looked completely different now than they had when he had last seen them.

“Kakashi-sensei! You’re late”

That one grey eye creased up.

“Well you see I came across this old woman and…”

“LIAR!” The whole table roared with laughter, they hadn’t really expected Kakashi to be on time anyway.

Udon, Konohamaru and Moegi were collected by their families, and Anko, Kotetsu and Izumo took their places.

Naruto was now surrounded by presents, and ramen, and Iruka had never seen him so happy before…

It got late, and a few people began to leave, Sai had training the next day, Ino was working for her mother in the flower shop, Chouji had promised his dad he would be in before midnight and Gai announced that Team 8 would have another mission the day after, to prove their youthfulness.

Iruka began to wonder why the jounin was so obsessed with youthfulness.

Orochimaru put the box on the side.

This would be it, they day when he could finally get rid of the ninja brat, and his friends.

He flipped a few switches, and a red light began to glow, he turned the dial.

“Sayonera”

He smiled coldly.

And pressed the large red button.

The machine began to beep.

* * *

“Well, I gotta leave now, I’m not as young as I once was”

Iruka waved.

“Don’t go Iruka-sensei!” Naruto whined.

“I’m too old for all this partying!” It was true, he could barely keep his eyes open.

Izumo and Kotetsu had somehow acquired alcohol, and were sharing it with Anko, they were hiccupping in the corner.
Yamato was smiling, and he looked about twelve years old, he wondered what had got the man so happy.

It was then he noticed the cup of sake he held in his hand.

Iruka sighed.

They were getting drunk at a kids birthday party?

It made Iruka stop and think, Naruto wasn’t a kid any more, he might act like one now and again, but he was sixteen now…

A hand slapped against his shoulder, and Iruka turned around to see Kakashi, an orange bound Icha Icha book in his hand.

Iruka wondered where he had got the habit of reading those kind of books from.

“I’ll keep an eye on them all if you want to get going”

Iruka nodded wearily.

“Thanks, I owe you one”

The copy nin smiled and turned back to the celebration, Naruto was telling everybody about the mission he had just taken, by Sakura’s expression, it obviously wasn’t the truth.

The chunin slipped away, before Naruto could convince him otherwise.

He was half way home before he heard the explosion.

Iruka spun around quickly.

That explosion…

“Naruto!!”

He began to run.

Why did this have to happen? Today of all days?

Dread and panic began to settle in his stomach…

Why had he not spent more time at the party? Why had he been selfish enough to leave?

Iruka didn’t notice ..

ANBU was already on the scene, Iruka had expected as much, an explosion like that wouldn’t have gone unnoticed.

Yet he hardly noticed the two ANBU members, he was too shocked for the thought to even register.

“Nothing…” Muttered one of the ANBU, face covered with a mask that looked like a snarling cat.

And that’s exactly what there was…. Nothing….

All traces of there having been a party that night were gone, if Iruka hadn’t been stood there less than twenty minutes ago, he wouldn’t have even realised there had been anybody here.

A sake bottle rolled forlornly in the corner, three smashed cups lay beside it.

Naruto…

Tears began to roll down Iruka’s tanned cheeks.

Naruto!

It had been his entire fault! His idea that they should have a party!

He sunk to his knee’s, and the two ANBU turned, katana in their hands.

But it was lost on Iruka, he held his head in his hands, shaking incontrollably.

“Naruto!”

The cat masked ANBU looked at the other ANBU member and nodded.

“I shall go report this incident to Hokage-sama”

Then the ANBU was gone.

The remaining ANBU turned his face towards Iruka, and if the chunin would have looked up, he would have seen a single black swirl filling the left side of the white porcelain mask.

Iruka felt numb, everything was like a dream, it had only been minutes ago when he had seen Naruto telling everyone about the mission, when Sakura was sat next to him, with a dangerous glint in her eye, Kiba had been talking with Shino, Akamaru asleep under the table, Hinata listening to Naruto’s every word, Shikamaru asleep, head resting on the table…

Anko, Kotetsu and Izumo in the corner, with their bottle of sake, Yamoto with his cup, Kakashi with the book…

And Naruto had asked him to stay, but he had slipped off without saying goodbye.

And now I’ll never get to say goodbye…

Naruto might think that he was the one who needed Iruka, but the Academy teacher knew that he needed Naruto just as much.

Naruto opened his eyes, peering into the darkness around him.

Had the Atatsuki finally captured him?

He felt around, looking for exit, yet he knew if the Atatsuki had caught him, there would be no escaping.

What about everyone else? Sakura-chan? Kakashi-sensei?

Naruto closed his eyes and prayed that there was a way out.

His fingers latched onto something, digging his fingers into the edge, he yanked backwards.

And suddenly it wasn’t dark anymore.

Blinking in the light, he looked out onto a backstreet, had he got lost on the way home from the party?

Wow..I drunk so much that I can’t even remember after Iruka-sensei left…

Stepping out onto the pavement, he decided that he must be in Konoha, the streets were pretty familiar, and he was sure he could see the Hokage Tower in the distance.

I’ll go find Sakura-chan he thought to himself She’ll know what’s going on.

Later that morning

It was the usual patrol, looking for kids bunking off school, it had been a real problem lately.

Adjusting his blue uniform, he looked in the mirror.

“Time to go, I suppose”

It didn’t take me long to find the first kid playing truant.

Was he wearing… Orange?

“Hey!”

The kid turned towards me, eyes narrowed.

“Why aren’t you in school?” I asked him

The boy looked confused, and as I looked closely, I noticed he was wearing a headband…

A boy?

Wearing a head band?

Then the boy finally spoke.

“I left the academy ages ago…” He pointed to the headband “See”

“…” What could I say to that?

“Could you tell me which village this is please?” The boy stared off into the distance, looking for something.

“Do you think I’m dumb kid? You can’t have left school yet, you can’t be older than seventeen” I pointed out

He then made some weird hand sign, and muttered something under his breath, and then looked expectedly up at me.

“So it’s not a genjutsu…”

“Wha…What?”

Genjutsu? What was this boy on?

He had to be from Konoha High, they were the only kind of school that would take this kind of lunatic.

“You’re from Konoha right?”

The boy looked up and nodded eagerly.

“Yeah! Finally! I bet everyone’s worried about me already!”

This boy wasn’t just odd, he was mentally unstable, I had to blink every two seconds so I wasn’t blinded by the bright orange.

“Well, do you need me to tell you where it is?” seriously, I decided to play along with this kid, I wasn’t sure how he was going to react if I just left him to wonder around on his own.

“Yeah!” This kid was excited about going to school.

It was then that I wished I had never become a police officer, why couldn’t I have been a shop assistant, or a nursery teacher?

“This way then..” I sighed, Konoha high was on the other side of town, it wouldn’t be a nice walk.

And I had the oddest feeling this boy wasn’t going to come quietly….

Um sorry to make you sad, but Pein killed Kakashi...T___T

Then I'm gonna cry for a couple of days...

My ears began to bleed.

Did this boy ever shut up?

“…And you should have seen his expression! He was all like” The boy pulled a funny face “And then we were all like” another funny face “and then Shino laughed, and we were all like…”

I nodded placidly, the connection to my brain had just failed.

Then it came into sight, and I had never been happier to see that building in my life.

Sighing I began to walk a little faster towards the school, and then finally it was over, we were at the gates.

The boy turned around to look at me.

“You’re not a member of the Atatsuki are you?”

I looked at him dumbfounded…Atatsuki was the name of a strip club downtown… How did this kid know about it?

“No…”

The kid smiled.

“Oh that’s good then!” his smile grew even bigger “Or I would have had to kill you”

“…”

I think as soon as I got back, I was going to hand in my notice… there was no way I was going to carry on with my job if guys like this were involved…

I could already imagine the nightmares.

“Well…here we are…Konoha High!”

The boy looked at me.

I flinched back…what was with that look?

“This…isn’t Konoha…”

I resisted the temptation to smack this boy, instead I pointed to the large grey sign beside us.

“Read the sign boy”

“Konoha High?..”

For the first time ever, he was silent.

Had the man got mixed up between Konohagakure and this school?

“This…isn’t Konoha…” Naruto pointed out

“Read the sign” He pointed to the large grey sign next to us.

“Konoha High?..”

The leaf symbol of Konoha was there, as clearly as the man next to him.

What was going on here?

He might not have been as clever a Neji, or even Shikamaru for that matter…but it didn’t take a genius to figure out what was going on here.

It’s a dream, I might as well go along with it…

Naruto turned back to the man in the blue uniform.

“Thanks”

Then he wondered inside.

As soon as he walked in, he heard a voice shouting.

“UZAMAKI NARUTO!”

Naruto spun around, perhaps it wasn’t a dream…perhaps it was…

A nightmare!

Shizune appeared around the corner, wearing a suit and skirt, and holding a clipboard in her hand.

“Uzamaki Naruto, the vice-principle wants to see you in her office, follow me please”

Shizune…? Why was she wearing a suit…?

Well it was a dream…

Tsunade-baachan?

What was with this creepy dream?

Her hair was pinned up in a tight bun, and instead of her usual green jacket, she wore a suit similar to the one Shizune wore.

Why was everyone so… official looking?

Tsunade sighed.

“Sit down Uzamaki”

He sat down on the chair in front of her desk, whilst she rifled through folders that cluttered one of the desks draws.

This wasn’t turning out to be a very good dream.

She laid a yellow folder on her desk.

“Now let’s see Uzamaki, this is the third time you’ve be caught bunking school this week, and…”

She opened the folder, flipping a few pages until she found what she was looking for.

“The 38th this term…” she handed the folder to him “What are we going to do with you Uzamaki?”

Naruto quickly scanned over the page, noticing all the black boxes.

All 38 of them.

“There’s only so many chances we can give you Uzamaki”

This was turning out to be a really crap dream.

Tsunade sighed again, and Naruto couldn’t help but notice how tired she looked.

The urge to call her Tsunade-baachan was overwhelming, but somehow he knew that his dream version of Tsunade would like being called that as much as the one that sat in the Hokage tower did.

“Off to classes with you Uzamaki”

He handed the folder back to her.

Why does the dream about school have to be on his birthday…?

Getting up from the chair, he suddenly realized he had no clue where his class was…

Seeing Naruto’s hesitancy, Tsunade sighed… again.

“Has it been that long since you’ve been in class? You have…” after a bit more rifling through the documents in her draw, she pulled out Naruto’s timetable.

“Art, in room 59, if you’ve forgotten where that is, down the hall to your left and through the double doors, the room number is on the door…”

Naruto nodded, and only when he was outside did he let out a groan.

Art? Isn’t that for girls?

He began to walk down the hall…

Man this dream sucks…

He suddenly stopped as a thought occurred to him.

It’s my dream…Can’t I wake up from it?

Closing his eyes he tried to wake up…

Five minutes later

He opened the door, all eyes turned to face him.

“Hehehe…Sorry I’m late…”

The other students just sighed and turned back to their work.

“It’s just Naruto…”

“I’m surprised he even turned up…”

“What a slack-off…”

Clenching his teeth, he sat down on the empty seat.

And then the teacher turned around.


“Welcome to art, un”

Naruto was paralyzed…

Here?! Of all places?!

He is offically dead...
